Tawasoul Org.


A NGO working in Iraq founded by a group of young activists who participated in the 2011 protests, which received a certificate of registration from the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations in 2014. The organization works to promote the values of accountability, transparency and good governance, by developing a modern advocacy toolkit and using technology and modern media to influence public policies and empower citizens to actively participate in democratic practice.
The organization has worked since 2014 to launch a number of advocacy campaigns, including the 'I Against Muhassa' campaign, which succeeded in filing the first lawsuit against both the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to cancel the balance system, and the organization obtained a decision from the Federal Court that is the first of its kind in interpreting the balance of components, and planned and led by Tawasoul in partnership with a number of NGOs and protest groups A number of advocacy campaigns such as the 'Civil Society Campaign to Amend the Provincial Council Elections Law', which succeeded in forming a civil coalition that includes non-governmental organizations, civil forces, unions and more than (70) MPs who were able to delay the holding of the voting session on the Provincial Councils Elections Law as well as the passage of a number of legal texts adopted by the campaign within the law that was voted on.
In 2018, the organization launched Point Iraq, and held its first regional conference as part of the Point Europe project, which is held annually in Sarajevo. Each year, the annual conference covers topics of importance in Iraq and the Arab region, including combating fake news and information manipulation, and strengthening community censorship through the use of open data platforms.
Point is a unique event that highlights the importance of using technology and modern media in promoting democracy, community journalism and accountability. It is a joint working space created in cooperation with international and national partners to develop the capacities of activists, media professionals and bloggers in the field of active citizenship, in order to engage citizens in communicating their voice to decision-making centers and make them an integral part of the process of drawing government policies and legislating laws.

Government Observatory Program :
An interactive, open-data platform that is committed to following up and publishing indicators of the implementation of the ministerial platform that the prime minister pledges to undertake before he is granted confidence in parliament and until the end of his term in the prime ministership. It is an interactive platform because it allows citizens to be one of the tools of oversight by uploading information or documents related to government promises to the site's management to be approved after being examined and studied in the evaluation methodology. It is open data because the data sources and information used to monitor the fulfillment of the paragraphs of the ministerial platform are all available to the public in a simplified manner and categorized by type and date. Thus, any citizen can be the monitor and follow the indicators of achievement.

Environmental platform :
An open data website that includes on its homepage an interactive map of Iraq through which any citizen can locate and upload data on a source of pollution or spatial change, this data is verified by a team of field monitors and a team of researchers specialized in the field of the environment, and prepared in a report that is sent to the Ministry of Environment, where the Ministry sends the violation and environmental violation to the government agencies concerned with addressing it.

Legislation Immunization Platform :
The first Arab initiative to immunize legislation from corruption according to a scientific methodology developed based on a national guide to immunize legislation, which includes a set of standardized questions published on an open data platform where each question has a weight that represents a score in the final index.
